hi all. im a very lucky girl and have just been given a new viv. its quite large being 3ft long, 2ft high and almost 2ft deep, it has been used before as the guys left some shed in there., therefore deep clean in order. it has 2 shelves in there aswell. above one shelf is a ceramic heat lamp and theres also a heatmat in the back corner aswell this only covers 1/4 of the floor space. my question is....being such a high deep viv does it need both heat sources, or will the heatmat alone be ok? also if i use both do i split the ideal temperature between the two on the stat or one higher than the other.....i ask this as i set them both the same at 74 but the lamp was alot hotter and the guard wud definatley burn my snakie. n/b no snakie in there yet will be a long time till that happens, just fiddling bout with temp sources as ive never used both before. want to get it right so any advice would be much appreciated.

No you don't need both. Just the statted heatmat will be fine. I'm assuming this is for a corn snake?
