| has any one on here ever been biten by their corn? as we are new too snake keeping and it was my hubby who was the most keen i am slightly nervouse about being biten by our new friend morph! do they ever bite and how bad is their bite? |

I've been bitten by all of my snakes! (except Dinger, coz he is lovely  )
Corns arent known for being aggressive so there isnt much to worry about; maybe a defensive bite or a feeding response.
Hatchlings are more likely to bite than well socialised adults, and you can honestly barely feel a bite from a baby! |

on the rare occasion that a corn does go for you, it will more often strike with its mouth closed and just nose-butt you  |

Only been tagged by one of mine. I frightened him while changing his water and he struck out. Did leave a tiny mark and to my surprise even drew blood. I could feel his sharp little teeth but it didn't hurt, just stung.
I'm dealing with a King snake bite at the moment (there is a thread in general posts section) and that has been slightly worse due to the fact Kings like to hold on and have a bit of a chew lol |

| I have never been bitten but have been told it is like catching yourself on the scratchy side of velcro, but it will bleed for longer than you expect - i have no idea if that is true but it is what i tell myself everytime i get nervous as even big wimp me can't be scared of velcro!!!!!! It it's wrong and it really hurts like hell i'd rather not know!!! |

They also only have tiny little teefs as well.
Generally so long as you don't pull on the snake if it was to bite then you'd barely feel it.
Plus not trying to remove the snake also minimises risk of causing oral damage to the snake by pulling teeth etc out.
See, tiny teefs.
She was latched on for about 30 seconds maybe, enough time to grab photos. Which is another thing you should do if you ever get bitten, get photos. |

That is such a great pic!
This is the bite mark left by my king snake. You can clearly see the teeth marks but this wasn't a strike, it was a latched on bite and sadly I didn't get pics. I tried but the battery in the cam was flat!

| Its the speed they hit that is amazing, quicker than the blink of an eye. I actually used a strike from my Boa and timed how long it took to travel 2 inches, She went from resting to latching on in 0.07 seconds. Human reaction time is 0.2 seconds so no point worrying because by the time you realise and react, its over. lol. Corns are very unlikely to bite though, its a badge of honour to be tagged anyway for just this reason. |

| Just handle the snake with confidence and leave it alone when it's in blue or digesting and being bitten should not be an issue. If you approach it nervously, then you could well get tagged. |
