My 7 eggs are 31 days old today.

I have just candled them (I do it each week) and now there is a mass in the bottom of each egg. Anyone know if this is the snake or?

Also, how long is it before there is snake in the egg?

I'm very interested :)

Do people normally candle them?? I thought they were best left alone.

I think you will find GP answered your question, and I am asking if people normally candle eggs out of interest as I am breeding corns next year for the first time so would like an answer.

Thanks.

I'm relatively certain that handling them for 5 mins a week will not harm them.
I'll let you know when they hatch.

I am very interested in how the egg produces a snake and I'm candling to learn.

I think you guys are awesome, specially eeji you'be helped me with loads of stuff, but I wish you weren't so quick to tell me I'm doing something wrong..

I didn't mean you imparticular lol
I just mean I know what I'm doing, I'm very careful with them n it only takes a few minutes. They fascinated me and I like to learn about them.

In my opinion eggs are much hardier than people make out. They survive in the wild where it rains, changes temp etc.

How long is it before a developing foetus is classed as a baby??
There will be many different opinions to that, so you wont get a very good answer unfortunately.

I do also understand your curiousness in regards candling, however it sounds like you're lifting them to candle them, if so then the 'mass' could well now be dead embryo. They rely on the air sac being in a specific place throughout their entire development process, and regardless of how much rain and temp changes they *could* get in the wild, they are always laid so they wont rotate or tip over, otherwise it's death to the young.

But there are still veins in them..
From now on ill simply candle the top egg so I don't have to lift them. Every time I have done it I have been extremely careful not to tilt them at all.

I mean when is the embryo a snake, as in a snake like what will come out of the egg. Will it be a matter of a few days before they hatch or are they in the egg as snakes for longer?

May sound like strange questions, but I am very interseted in the sciencey part of it all

OK, we're all trying to help.
Don't ask for advice/info if you don't want it and will ignore.
I'm locking this thread, and I shall continue locking every single thread you make that asks for advice.
