I didn't see it, I'm veggie so don't eat any meat but do find it odd when people genrally who eat meat get angry at the less 'usual' animals getting eaten. Ultimately, it's inconsistent, meat is meat, cow, pigs, snakes, unfortunately.
However, it does seem from the article that the anger about this incident is coming from a living, conscious animal being cut open, which would cause unnecessary suffering as much as the type of animal itself or a heart being eaten. |

This is what disgusted me. Basically cut a live cobras heart out so they could drink it in a shot. Traditional Dish or not, it's barbaric :x |

Sadly there is still a great deal of barbarity in the world. Even in the "civilised" world. I think the way some animals are treated in countries like Spain is disgusting for example. I hate bull fighting. And bull running is equally horrible. The stress those poor beasts must feel with fireworks tied to them and the crowds screaming and shouting etc. I feel sick just thinking about it.
But countries have traditions that are hundreds of years old and who are we to say what should and shouldn't happen. |

I am all for trying authentic food of other cultures but for god sake cook it first and do not slaughter an endangered species just to try a delicasy. This is right up there with shark fin soup which just as equally involves the slaughter of an endangered species!! |
Dakota ~ Bloodred Corn ~ Amber & Chloe ~ Cats Mind is changing on snakes I want now lol so am researching these to find out what would be best - Milk Snakes and Dwarf Boa possibly - Crawl Cay, Sonoran, Tarahumara or Vera Cruz and poss a Hoggie, African House and Rat snake. Also Trinket Snakes. |

totally different, the entire cobra was eaten nothing wasted, shark fin soup is just the fin removed and the shark chucked back. |

G that's not the point, personally I don't care if the whole animal was eaten or not, endangered means just that "Endangered" and potentially at risk of extinction if numbers fall any lower whether it is snake or fish. |
