Well, the snakes have.
After numerous attempts to breed my '07 ghost motley/stripe het amel ph. caramel to both my '08 golddust motley and my proven '02 ghost male I was all but giving up hope that I could be expecting eggs any time soon- She spurned both males completely, refusing to move even a centimeter from her tightly wrapped up coil to entertain their advances.
Anyway, a few days back I moved the female into the big 4 foot viv with the male, after a break of a few weeks- again, nothing. Her at one end, him at the other. Useless.
Today I noticed that her next door neighbour from the rack setup, a little 2010 hypo vanishing stripe, was looking ever so cross at having his wannabe lady love taken away, and was really zooming around his viv, pushing at his lid and getting very wound up, so I took him out and put him in the viv too.
Hey presto, less than 30 seconds later, and he's romancing her like a true pro, leading to a fab lock. Yay!!
Of course, he's pretty small so who knows what the outcome may be, but if the deed does result in eggs then hopefully I can expect hypo motley stripe type things, possible others if the hypo is het for anery, amel or caramel. He's shop bought so who knows.
Very happy. |
