Hi all,
I'm just a novice and now realising how much so.
I have 2 corns Samson and Delilah.
She laid one egg in her water bowl that was discoloured so i take it it was unfertilised. She still has more in there and they are quite far down now compared to 5 days ago.
I have read they sometimes discard bad eggs early on but it has been 5 days now and would've went sooner but didn't want unnessesary stress for her.
I'm taking her to vet tomorrow 9am but would like some info if possible.
I've put her in for a bath a couple of times and she's urinated a bit, (it was a bit yellow.
I've also read to feed her so it pushes the eggs along and will also dehydrate them making them smaller and easier to pass.(if she is egg bound and the eggs are dead) but i also read the hormones to make them lay stops them from eating and would need to be assisted feed.
Others are saying leave her alone so as not to stress her any more.
On the other hand folk are saying don't delay get her to a vet.
Any advice would be great.

I've got a similar situation with my girl. I've just changed vets this evening as the one I was using just wanted to whip out his scapel and start carving. The guy I saw tonight aspirated the egg and lubed her up with ky jelly and hopefully the egg'll be out soon.
I think the advice of your vet is the best thing (so long as he's got a bit of reptile knowledge!)

my local vet doesn't where i was going to go this evening but ark vet in Airdrie which is not to far away does.
Don't like the sound of scalpal.
I'm starting to feel guilty allowing them to breed.(with Little knowledge).
Hope yours pulls through.

I wish you lots of luck with your girl. One of my females decided to start laying eggs and she hadn't even been mated. She took almost 2 weeks to pass them all so it is possible for it to take longer however mine was laying 1 or 2 every couple of days so at least I knew they were moving.
I would say to take her to a vet that specialises in exotics. Don't feed her before hand otherwise the handling could make her regurge and she really doesn't need that on top of being eggbound. The vet will advise on the next steps to take.
Is your female in a seperate viv to the male? What kind of laybox have you got for her? |

Yes, got samson in a small viv, and using vermickulite(spelling?)
Hope vet is open, Stupid bank hol,
called last night but closed n got answer machine, open 9am no appointment nesessary, fingers crossed |

I ended up with 4 layboxes in Connies viv, 1 vermiculite, 1 perlite, 1 moss and 1 damp kitchen roll. She seemed to prefer the moss but did use the vermiculite as well |

Been to the vets, She reckons to leave her a few days yet. Doing anything to early can do as much damage as leaving it late.
Delilah looks like she's getting ready to shed and she's still perky enough.
Got some moss and kitchen roll as options now as well. |

Delilah is out shedding just now.
How long normally after final shed do they usually lay?

| Usually they have a pre-lay shed a couple of weeks beforehand, and a post lay shed, once everything is finished. |

| pre-lay shed can vary from a few hours before laying to 10-14 days........it's a bit like how long is a piece of string |
