Ok so I've been researching kings, milks, hoggies, crawl cays, royals, rainbow boa - what other snakes could be a good second snake for a beginner?

Dakota ~ Bloodred Corn ~ Amber & Chloe ~ Cats
Mind is changing on snakes I want now lol so am researching these to find out what would be best - Milk Snakes and Dwarf Boa possibly - Crawl Cay, Sonoran, Tarahumara or Vera Cruz and poss a Hoggie, African House and Rat snake. Also Trinket Snakes.

housies are under-rated and a nice species
hoggies seem to be popular (but dog knows why lol)
kings and milks are good, but may be too similar to corns for some people
ratsnakes are similar again, there's quite a variety and range from being corn-like to quite challenging eg. greys, radiateds
royals are popular too and again.......why? when all you see is a viv, and they're often stressy and not for stressy owners IMO
boas are generally good and come in a variety of sizes

of course i'm biased and would go for a boa every time

Hoggies! But like Mort and GP said, house snakes are hugely underrated and are just awesome

I would vote for either of those, and if you like the huff and puff attitude of hogs and are slighly nervous about the venom, you can't go wrong with Pituophis species (Bulls, Pines and Gopher Snakes). They rarely bite, and if they do it's not a big deal. If they do decided to be grumpy with you and hiss, just a warning, they are LOUD!
