Hi all my butter corn has shed 2 times with me and both times it has struggled, It has been very flacky and i have had to help with a damp towel and rubbing,Iput a damp kitchen yowel in the faun but did not help, what do you suggest i do next time he goes pale.

Raise the humidity quite a bit once the eyes start to go from cloudy to clear. A moss box or damp flannel. I'd be tempted to buy a hygrometer and get an idea of what the humidity is normally and gives you an idea of where you need to be for a good shed.

I would use a moss hide, the snake can get right in amongst the moss where a damp cloth will only really be on the belly.

i agree with gmac, only need a moss box, thats all ive ever done as soon as i see my corn go blue i put moss box in most of the time she will be in there within a day an stay there till she sheds, never had a need to check the humidity with a gauge the box has always done the trick

best place to get it is a garden centre - it's about a tenth of the price of branded stuff!!

What type of moss though if you buy it from a garden centre??

just sphagnum moss......it's usually damp or even wet when you buy it from a garden centre whereas branded reptile stuff is dried out (and in a miniscule bag!!)

if you do a search on this site there's instructions on how to prepare it before use, it's dead easy
