Do other snake owners keep records on their snakes - last fed, weight, age, last shed, length of last shed etc. Am making up a record sheet on computer and want to know if I should record anything else.
Thanks

Dakota ~ Bloodred Corn ~ Amber & Chloe ~ Cats
Mind is changing on snakes I want now lol so am researching these to find out what would be best - Milk Snakes and Dwarf Boa possibly - Crawl Cay, Sonoran, Tarahumara or Vera Cruz and poss a Hoggie, African House and Rat snake. Also Trinket Snakes.

if a prey item has to be defrosted with something or rubbed on something eg. a chick or a gerbil to take that scent (to encourage a picky eater)
for example, when we initially moved the female JCP from mice to rats, we had to defrost her rat weaner with a gerbil and to hide the ratty smell so she would eat it

You'll love record keeping I know I do. My corn poops at least twice a week now he's on bigger food, Usually get a big one out of him 2 days after a meal and a little 1 a few days after. Its always good to keep as much info as you see fit as its easier to identify a problem if that is needed. my corn poops like clockwork so I would easily notice if something was amiss there where as my royal holds it in for about 4-6 weeks so its more beneficial for me to keep that info in the book.

I hate it lol With so many snakes now it takes forever and my writting has got very sloppy in the books!

I tend to just weigh them all once a month now, I note down the day they ate and what they ate and that's about it.

Yep, I do. I record everything but I've only got 1 cornsnake and 1 hognose so it's easy. I've got an excel spread sheet for both so it doesn't take long to fill in :)
