Ok am thinking further down the line here and probably getting all worried for nothing lol.
Once peoples corn snakes reach the age to be moved to a bigger enclosure are snakes perfectly happy in a large clear plastic RUB compaired to a proper wooden viv? While a large clear plastic RUB is not asthetically pleasing compared to a wooden viv, they still have space for hiding places, branches to climb on etc etc and using this will allow me time to get a proper viv.
Wooden vivs can be expensive and with a small budget to work with in order to save pennies I just don't want to cause my snakey or me any stress lol.

Mind is changing on snakes I want now lol so am researching these to find out what would be best - Milk Snakes and Dwarf Boa possibly - Crawl Cay, Sonoran, Tarahumara or Vera Cruz and poss a Hoggie, African House and Rat snake. Also Trinket Snakes. |

| I prefer to keep my adults in vivs but thats's because I like looking at the decorations and snake whizizng about. When young I keep mine in RUBs as it's cheap and saves buying and upgrading vivs. |

| I have both viv's and RUB's, the viv's are in my opinion much nicer to look at and display your animals better but saying that not all snakes are happy been displayed and prefer been hidden away. Its really easy to keep corns in RUB's their whole life but go by size not age when moving them up to the next RUB size. Equally its just as easy to keep them in viv's though this is the more expensive option. Its really down to personal preference and budget but as far as the snake is concerned as long as you provide them the right environment inside the enclosure then what enclosure you use doesn't matter. |

| Perfect sense, to save money and to avoid viv upgrading over and over, use RUB's until your snake hits full adult size then buy the viv size appropriate to that size snake. |

I think my corns will always be kept in rubs. Right now the 3 new babies are in 9L rubs. All the rest are in 33L rubs.
My boas will go into vivariums once older and possibly my king snake.

Thanks. I bet you will end up with more than 1 snake 
He's only little, around 12" (although 12" normally would be big??  ) so he will be going into a 9L rub. That's were rubs/tubs are great as pointed out above, they are cheap to upgrade until your ready for a nice posh viv. |

| That's what am thinking Louise, my aim is to have a really nice viv when my snake reaches adult size. I just want to make sure I'm doing right AND that's where all you good experienced people can really help someone like me who's just starting. I held 2 adult corns at the reptile shop and I was in like heaven it was so good an experience. |

we used to have all the corns in nicely done out vivs, unfortunately the boas have taken over them now purely due to their size though
BUT we have sold a lot of our corns, probably about 50%, especially our breeders.
the ones we've kept are purely for sentiment so as long as their welfare isn't compromised (which it isn't) we'll continue to house them in RUBs  |
