Hi all, my gorgeous baby butter sol is only about 25 gramms and roughly 6-7 months old. He is a brilliant feeder always scoffs his food and looks for more. At the min i feed him 2 small pinkies every 5 days but i was wondering if i could up the size of his prey now. He does have a noticible bump, well 2, after eating but he allways seems so hungry. What would u say should i keep to the 2 pinkys or try 1 fuzzy maybe |

as long as the food item is no bigger than around 50 percent of the widest part of your snakes body it should be fine - i have a 7 month old corn who quite happily munches a large fuzzy no probs! :) EDIT - although they do grow at different rates so it can vary from snake to snake |

?? Just to clarify the food item should be no bigger than 1.5 times the thickest part of the snake (Thats 150% of the snakes thickest bit but sticking to decimals is far easier).
As said before if 2 pinkies are leaving a noticeable bulge then use up your pinkies, then consider switching to fuzzies, 2 pinkies are bigger in mass than 1 small fuzzy but I think fuzzies have more nutrients as Spot had a massive growth spurt just after switching. |

1.5 times the width of the snake's body at it's widest point is a guideline for maximum food size for corns i would have thought a fuzzy would be an appropriate size |

Snakes are opportunist feeders so appearing to still be hungry and looking for more is normal. Once you get Sol onto fuzzies you might want to feed once a week instead of every 5 days. |
