My 4 year old corn snake went missing sometime during the night. I've read the post on finding a snake, which is very helpful. But my main worry is my 2 year old daughter. Is my snake liable to harm her during the night when we are sleeping? She's a friendly snake of course, but being a snake, I don't trust her completely.

We also have a guinea pig; will she be left alone by a corn snake? I don't think the snake will starve as we have reoccuring problems with mice, but I will put out bowls of water for her.
Thanks for any help!

Sorry you've lost your snake.
I know its easier said than done but I wouldn't worry about your daughter, most likely the only harm your snake could cause her is making her jump/frightening her by turning up unexpected in her room. Your snake will most likely hide away from an active little 2 year old.
I have 2 piggies myself and I know theres no way a corn snake could tackle them as they are far too big. I gather its an adult guinea?
Hopefully she'll turn up soon and you never know, your mouse problem may not be so bad.

as Mort says, the toddler and pinny gigs are fine
my main concern would be cats........ they seem to think 'great!! something wriggley to play with' though mine have been quite helpful snake finders - eg. staring at the bottom of a curtain - their behaviour alerting me to the whereabouts of the escapee!

good luck finding her, a adult is generally easier to find than itty bitty hatchies

Thanks for the replies, I feel a lot better now! I've told the toddler to keep a look out and tell me if she sees the snake. I don't know how much luck we'll have finding her though, we live in an old house with lots of holes in the walls and floors. I just hope she doesn't find her way to our neighbours upstairs; they are hellish enough as it is.

in desperation we've resorted to tape traps before but it's essential they're checked every few hours as a snake trapped in tape can be fatal........it's been effective for us but the snake in question lost a few of her scales despite the tape being 'low tack', she's perfectly back to normal after a few sheds though
