Yeah i'm going to see how they get on for awhile and if anything does go wrong I'll just separate them, but the guy in the store said its a lot better to have a female who's slightly bigger than my male. At the minuet they seem fine and look like they get on but it has only been a day! lol

Its not better, its a disaster waiting to happen. Please split them up.

Different sexes, no quarantine, size difference, hatchlings...... need I go on?

Very nice but did you quarenteen the snake for 3 months? Snakes are very good at hiding illness for months and months until they are literally on deaths door is the only time you see that they are ill :( Plus there is no way that the girl snake is 3 years old.

And of course the store would say that, they will sell anything they can!

Jeese you want to jump down their throat anymore?

Every new pet has a learning curve to it and to start with you always have to trust the info given to you. I checked with Carmicheal and Advice was asked at two different locations about introducing and keeping together from specific reptile specialists, not a place like pets at home or something. To me that is going about things the right way, whether you disaggree with the info is another matter but no need to be patronising and aggressive to an obvious newbie who is trying the best they can. Be supportive or cast them out on their own.

Lovely snake, and i wish you the best.

It's not patronising or aggressive, it's fact that a new snake has been put with another snake without any quarentine period! Now if one snake is ill, both probably will be soon.

Whether you agree with co-habiting snakes or not you still should quarentine them first.

Please point out the aggressive and patronising posts as opposed the the factual and helpful ones?

I am assuming that by specific reptile specialists you mean reptile shops? Because advice from shops is usually absolute rubbish.

Im am not doubting your information at all, just saying your acting as if this person has dissregarded all advice. Im saying that they sought out advice and asked the right questions and maybe didn't get the right info but thats not their fault so stop laying blame. Give advice on how to correct the situation advised to them rather then making out it was done deliberatly!

which is usually why new members post on here......and get cornsnake-specific advice from experienced members/keepers. if it's something the OP doesn't want to hear then that's down to them, and they won't be learning and their new pet(s) could suffer as a consequence.........

I completely agree and like i said, am not disputing any advice given, simply the way its being said. 90% of people will have got their first pet from a store, and a reptile specific store you automatically trust at the time to give you the info needed. I did. Its only after joining specific forums you find out the nitty gritty stuff and move on from there. But everyone on here will have made mistakes etc and the fact you have spotted one early for a newbie is good but just dont make them feel likepoopfor not knowing about it! the early replies after it was suggested they shouldn't be together you wouldn't talk to a stranger in the street like that. There are ways to advise things, especially to new people so they can climb up.

No-one is jumping down anyones throaat,it's just that with ANY ANIMAL before introducing it to others it should be quarentined.
The reptile specialist clearly aren't specialist if they are telling you that! Our "reptile specialist" tells people to mount heatmats on walls and that there's no need for a stat! No-one here is nasty on purpose, maybe a bit too blunt but not because were horrible people, it's because we care.

I couldn't care less about if someone cohabits if they do it in the right conditions. I've been and done cohabbing oppsite sex while the snakes were still very young, I wish I did I was very lucky, not everyone is.

I am not doubting anyone on here doesn't care, sorry if that came across. I would just be very put out or upset if i had had some of these replies after thinking i had done things correctly. Maybe just less blunt next time then would be better.

None of the replies are horrid though, or intensionally horrible. I suppose on the internet it is hard to interpret how words could be said but no ill meaning was meant behind it, I assure you.
