i decided a while ago i wanted to change from standard bulbs for the viv lighting an decided to go for led strip. so i got this today just to try it out an see how effective it is. its in on the diaganal due to the hole for wiring but as im quiet happy with the results when bumbles new viv comes an snakes get shuffled about will do it side to side. might even get some blue and white for a nice night time effect

i love the LED's was lookin at changing my tube for them myself, also found some that are 'moonlight' ones, so was going to do a strip of each
love the fact they dont get hot at all
how have you fixed them to the top of the viv? screws?
cuz was lookin at putting in one of those reptile hammocs too, would hate that my snakies scratched themselves on any screws
but i think the effect looks fab |

it came with 3m tape on so its stuck on, but as its right up there im not to worried about using it with the tape |

| Wow they work very well! Makes me wish I didn't buy a load of push LEDS! How to they fix on the top? I've also noticed like on ebay they sell the lights and power seperatly and you have to connect them up some how... how did you do that? |

| u can buy 5 meter rolls of the stuff on ebay for like £20 i got this from maplin to just try it, its 12v so u need a 12 supply. i had a tranformer here so i wired it up meself. but u can buy the stuff with a transformer. its got double sided tape on the back. an with it being on the roof i cant see it being any problems |

I got things I can use for power supply so it's ok for me lol but I've got 5 meters of White an red coming to do all vivs with so pics will follow when bumbles new viv is set up |

| Hi, Ive been intresting in getting some led strips like you, i have been to maplin, and they said they can sell me the lights and transformer but i need a soldering iron, and some soldering wire, and wire it up myself, but im a plumber, when it comes to electrics i dont really know my stuff, so can you not buy a transformer ready to use with led strips? so you can just plug them into the mains ? |

to start with dont get the led strip from maplin, they will charge u £30ish for 3 ft, i payed £20 for a 5 metre roll from ebay an the ebay stuff is water proof too. i just used a 12v transformor i had kicking about. u can buy led strip lighting with the transformer etc already wired but it depends if its right for what u need, i needed to do 2 vivs with 2 diff colours so all my wiring an switch box is custom. its not as hard as it sounds though
