How do you know if the mouse is bad and shouldnt feed it to your snake?

Do you mean a thawed mouse?

I would guess the fisrt sign would be the smell. Maybe bloated, just not normal looking?

they go black and stinky quite quickly!

and a snake will usually refuse a prey item that's too far gone
cornsnakes, ratsnakes, bullsnakes, boas and day geckos
