Is there a downloadable program to easily measure your snake I tried that serpent widgets thing but it seems the site is not up and running any more?

I use the wife's needlework tape measure. Hold one end near the tail and follow it all the way along the body...doesn't matter if the snake moves as you're holding the tape against it. Simples.

But if you really want software, then here's one http://www.serpwidgets.com/Apps/measure.html

I just downloaded the serpent widgets thing and it worked for me. And Benji you can measure anything with a computer as long as you have something of a known length with which to calibrate it.

On another note (sorry to hijack the thread) how much can a snake grow before it sheds? I've just measured Siren using the afore mentioned software and a few days after I got her she was 12 inches, now she's 20 and she's not shed at all since I've had her (just over a month).

i just double checked it in winXP SP2 and it works fine.

download the zip file, open it (no need to unzip it) and double click on SETUP.EXE and it will install. It will put a new icon in your start/programs menu called SnakeMeasurer. Open this and click File -> Open -> sample.jpg to load the test photo provided and have a play

yep just what eeji said. It's a bit odd at first because you expect it to just be there but once you've done that its in your programs file.

It might be easier to just trace round your snake and measure that lol.

Turn the resolution down on the camera itself, or resize the image, either directly on your computer or use photobucket and then save a copy of the edited pic. Or post it on here and someone will have a go.
