Wow this really does seem like one of the biggest topics spoken about on here :)
Well i fed Kchalise yesterday i cant believe how much she has grown in a week :o
and this week she literally striked it and ate the pinkie within a minute!! last time i fed her she hid for 2 days, but today she is out already!! do you guys reckon shes hungry and ready for 2 pinkies??
and when do you think i should try feeding her on 2??
All im worried about is her regurgatating and if she does what do i do... id feel soooo guilty !!
Thanks guys !!! |

Depends. Does what she is getting fed now leave a distinct lump. If not its time to move up to doubles while you use up any pinks left then upto small fuzzies. |

Ok... so what do you mean, leave a distinct lump, in her stomach area or on the way down, becausde when it reaches her stomach it doesnt really??
Does it hurt them if they regurgitate??
And even though i only fed her yesterday could i try her on a pinkie tonight???
Need help quick please my dad is doing my head in saying she hungry !! when he doesnt know hes never had snakes before !!! and i dont want to force it on her too soon, but she has come out quicker this time, and did eat it and it went down quick !!
Its sooo scary having a snake for the first time 1!1 |

The lump is in the stomach once it stops moving down. As a general guide if it doesn't leave a lump in the stomach then you can move up a size (or double feed to use up any left overs). The size of the mouse should be no bigger than 1.5 times the thickness of the snake at its thickest point.
Regurges aren't great but its unlikely to happen unless the snake is stressed, handled too soon or too cold. A snake can eat far bigger than the 1.5 rule but its just advisable to not exceed 1.5 times the thickness of the snake.
I would I wait until the next feed and double feed then, you dont want to throw a fresh mouse onto a partially digested mouse in the stomach it might cause problems (although unlikely).
Snakes will eat whenever they come accross food, they don't get hungry as such, I've never heard a snakes tummy rumble. Next feed will be fine to increase the fed amount.
Its scary in a fascinating way. Just enjoy it. |

Thanks for the advice, i reaslly wish i had received this like 2 minutes sooner as my dad text his mate who "apparently" knows about snakes as hes had 1 and told me i should feed it again other wise it will be hungry !!!
Grrr im sooo angry,i told him shed be fine until her next feed!!! but,
I fed her another one as i didnt read this in time to prove to him and she took it obviously, but not is going mad rubbing her face, and like going roung the faun loads!! when i moved my hand she just stared at it,
Im actually now petrified that when i go and try to get her out of her faun in 3 days time she actually going to think im food this time!!
:) I LOVE this forum!!
Do you think she will be ok if shes going round the faun loads!!
Im just a worrier because shes new and i dont want to do anything wrong!!

She's exploring like mad to find a way out!! That's perfectly normal. She took another feed because snakes are opportunist feeders, in the wild they have no idea when the next meal is coming so they eat whenever the food is there. That's normal too. (Before you say anything I know we get non-feeders on here but they usually have a reason and we usually suss it out!!) It's great that you don't want to do anything wrong. That's why this forum is so good because we all help each other to make sure we get it right.......just ask if you're not sure! |
