as in title. Just wondering. Gollum is white! with one little yellow line all the way down. He seems nervous at the moment very gentle but he seems to grip almost as I get him out the viv to fight against coming out but is as gentle as anything...
I know hatchies shed every 3-8 weeks (Charlie sheds every 6-7weeks now) but as a fully grown adult how often should I expect him to and what will be the signs being as he is a snow? When I fed him Monday It was almost unsuccesful I had to put the lid on his tray ( I feed him in a large underbed storage container) and leave him for half an hour. He has always seemed laid back but maybe just a little timid and nervous this week more than normal... just wondering... expect a shed or not?
I had him 3weeks ago now (maybe 4) there was a shed in the viv in which he came but I dont know how fresh it was!? He's 2yrs old and just over 4ft |

It does entirely depend on feeding. The more you feed the more often they shed. Typically though, for a 4ft snake, prob every 6 weeks or so. It's not that hard to see in snows, their belly goes a funny opaque colour and their eyes go a milky white, more or less the same as any other morph, just not as noticeable on the body. A lot of albinos do tend to be more nervous, even more aggressive than normal, mainly.because they have no camouflage so tend to stick out a bit, and as such, their only defence is offence! Doesn't tend to happen too much with CB animals, but a snow in the wild is a force to behold.
I remember watching a program about rattlesnakes years ago, normal all over the place, and reasonably calm, as far as they go, then he found a snow rattler, it was ready to take on the world, mega aggressive!
It's like a switch is flipped in its head, its defence is taken away, do it naturally becomes more aggressive, or nervous, a lot of albinos are the same.
If course, it may just be that you have a timid animal! |
