Was anyone there to laugh at you??
Please say yes??

The few times I've come off I've been glad people have been there to poke fun at me, it makes it easier to deal with when you have to pick up mirrors from 20ft away from your bike.

Even having my kneecap make a hasty exit from my leg once, I still ride like a drunken french pizza delivery rider.

That's a bit poo, what bike? I am lucky, 2 years and not dropped it yet! Am sure it will happen at some point though, even if I am an over cautious rider!!

Oh no,thats not good. You're ok though, thats the main thing.
You done much damage to the bike?
I never came of my bike when I had one,but I fell off a bogger that I rode before getting a bike. Damn thing pulled a wheelie and threw me off in the middle of a road. Felt a right plonker lol!

thanks everyone! wasnt sure how a totally non snake post would be welcomed! cool to see some other bikers on here too!

i ride a gsx-r 600 k8 in white and silver. it DID have carbon fibre huggers and a pearl screen! i smashed the hugger, cracked the edge of the nose cone, smashed the windscreen, snapped the mirror bracket, cracke done side panel. luckily crash bungs and soft mud absorbed a lot of the impact! i got off with a bruised shoulder and knee. there were LOTS of people there to laugh at me! i jumped back through the hole i made in the hedge and shouted "TA DAA!" and everyone laughed! it does make it easier. we managed to remove broken bits and tape other bits so i could finish the 150 mile ride (i still kept up with the quickish people! :)) bike will be fixed soon (im still riding it to work) an di feel fine. lots of mick taking happening tho! gunna cost about £200 to get it back on the road looking fine, £400-500 to get it back how it was. luckily my pride and joy, my akrapovic carbon fibre full race exhaust system survived intact! that was literally my biggest concern! :)

back to snakes newbie, its a coastal carpet python. she's about 7-8ft i think, gettin a better idea as i spend more time with her!

I agree on the exhaust, I know how much they cost!

On the other note, at 7 or 8 ft you wanna be real careful, shell be faster than you and will hit very hard, tear creating hard. If she's annoyed, leave her be, it has to je on her terma, if she tags you then you are gonna lose all confidence with her.

yeah your quite right. still i think a confident approach is best. cautious, as you say, but confident. ive got to a stage now where i can sit with her viv open and stroke her for as long as i like. she doesnt like if i touch her underbelly though so cant lift her atm. one day at a time eh? glad i rescued her, i think she is too, just a funny way of showing it!

yep. exhaust cost a lot and weirdly they seem to be more expensive the smaller they get! what do you ride?

cool. augusta's are really nice. apart from the hissing, serendipity has been fine. i actually held her yesterday, blimey is she strong! they are not nippy and despite a lot of people thinking otherwise, they are a docile snake with a great temperament. slightly more extrovert than a royal python but still an unaggressive species. x
