LOL. Its only a guide not a rule! I handle mine after a two days if they seem happy to do so! You do get the odd one that just has that personality thats not afraid of nothing and likes the attention and the contact! Can depend if the transporting it was good too and it didnt feel stressed!

Sound like you got one that isnt fazed by anything! Most are but you must respect the ones that really do want to be left along and settle in!

Sounds like you have a nice new friend!

Lol, rules are made to be broken. You're not the first and you won't be the last!! It's a general guide rather than a hard and fast rule.

Ohh well I look forward to waiting and seeing then :). am planning on feeding him on Friday a medium mouse (he is apparently on large mice but as there were mice found in the contraption he came in I am going to offer a smaller meal to see how he goes. If theres no problem will be ontinuiong him on large mice :)

Dont want post another post regarding Gollum as he had enough media coverage already I think LOL! BUT I am planning on feeding him Friday a small mouse.. bearing in mind his circumstances... there were atleast 2 mice in his contraption he came in decomposing (not sure wethere regurged or not eaten).
A small mouse is my plan.. if anyone has a better idea feel free to comment. I have been suggested a rat pup is more fattening. Pics dont show it but he does have a very obvious tent shape and we are taking him to newport at the weekend where a specialist can take a look at him.
My other half thinks maybe I should wait until after he has seen a specialist (but them im thinking he really could do with a feed... both of us agree he is underweight though my fella thinks more underweight than I think so were really not consistent on what we think.
I do have 4 pinkies left though as Matilda was rehomed to a really nice home and im hoping new owbers sign up here (have reccomended sight) would they be any sort of compromise or be useless to such a big snake?

if you are taking him to see a specialist at the weekend dont feed him on friday. If you feed he cant be examined.

you dot want to be handling a snake that has just fed and also dont want to be taking a fed snake off the heat, this will hinder the digestion

I didnt think of that! thankyou! Am takin him Saturday to newport reptile place where I am told are very very good. Im taking him so they can examine his condition and tell me for sure if he is underweight or not. We are sure he is but dont want to start over feeding him if he isnt.
Think thats the very best place to start with him. We are almost posotive he will need some tlc but then we could be wrong and dont want to take tha chance!
Will leave him till after our visit Saturday then ... Thankyou :).. is he still ok to get out bearing in mind he may be hungry? Dont fancy being his menu!! lol

Could I feed him a fuzzy tomorrow or tonight just to see if he feeds or not or regurges or not for more info for the specialist Saturday? He is apparently on large mice.
I emailed the person who sold him me to say I found atleast 2 mice in there ( i used bags and looked away to bag the rest up so dont know If I mised any more the smell was overwhelming) and she replied to say he was fed 4 days before I got him if I found anything in there it would of been regurged on route which would explain the smell.... I dont beleive that as they were a few layers down and I found atleast 2 not 1!
Im just thinking it would be useful to find out if he is refusing to feed or wether he is regurging to pass on info on Saturday?

wnt give you any definitive information if he doesnt feed, he will not be settled. I would let him settle as thats probably what he need more than anything after the way he was treated.

Leave feeding for now, specialist then feed
