Could that be possible that they will mate and lil snakeys will hatch?
Coz aren't they genetically similiar?

What kinda of grass snake specifically? There are lots of snakes called "grass snake" across the world. If they were able to, it probably wouldn't be very wise if each of the snakes need completely different temps and humidity and diet, the care for the hatchlings would be quiet confusing I would imagine!

its unlikley, but i very much doubt you will be able to get them to do anything. Genetically they are quite different, so whether they would even be able to fertilise each other is a whole different ball game. Even if one was fertilised, the chances of viable eggs is highly unlikely.
Its like saying corns and boas could mate and be viable because they are both snakes, in reality it wouldnt happen.

btw they r not quite different in need of temperature or feedig times or things like that. They are kind of same, only that Natrix Natrix likes to be near water all the time so the hatchlings would just need some bigger waterbowls;P

really?? do some more research then, because you are wrong. By all means have a go at breeding them, when you have been trying for ages, i probably will say i told you so.

Whats the hibernation temp for a corn as opposed to a grass snake?? whats the feeding habits?? whats the humidity requirement?? what about temp range??

some more research needed i think.

i should do mo research about if they could have hatchies?:D
boas and corns arent the same lol, ofc they couldn't

U wont problably understand my language but thats where i got the idea.

Cornsnake is Maisi-roniNASTIK and Natrix Natrix is harilik NASTIK.

So they both have the word NASTIK so i thought they would be breedable:P

Grass snakes are Natrix Natrix (sub) and corns snakes are Pantherophis Guttata guttata.
The only similarity is that they are both colubrids, thats about as far as it goes.
Language differences are not scientific in the slightest, they are simply a language difference, the same way the grass snake is also called the ringed snake, and over your way a bit they are called the white eared snake.

they both belong to a different genus so that puts the chances at slim before you start. It does not mean that its not possible though, because its already been done with elaphe (the cornsnakes genus) and lampropeltis, pituophis, and recently I read lamprophis too.

By all means give it a try, and definitely post the results :)

...and you won't create a new 'breed' or a new 'species', they would just be hybrids of the two.

That's seems quite dangerous to me, like health wise in terms of bugs and other nasties :( A wild snake might have snake mights for a start, who knows what else :(

Unless your quareteen it and getting it checked out before? Just make sure you go about it lawfully.

True, however you are willing to put her to another snake of a different species and 'see what happens', smart.

For all you know your cornsnake could eat this grass snake when trying to pair them up i would be very careful of what your doing when it comes to breeding as you never know what will happen!! And before you say cornsnakes don't eat each other well yes it does happen !!

Yes, i know what you MEANT, you want to put two completely different species of snake, with totally different feeding, heating, hibernation, and habitat requirement, together, in the futile hope they breed.

Sorry, i said smart, i really meant stupid.
