Right guys this ISN'T a corn, but I thought I'd post here anyway for educational value more than anything, and to show you that even people who do their best to keep issues away from their snakes it CAN happen.

The following pics are to show you a health problem that could affect your cornsnake(s) easily.

Any guesses from people (no one with experience/in depth knowledge of this sort of thing in the past though) as to what this might be??

I'd like you guys that are unsure of things to post and ask questions etc, so that it can help you learn more.

These photos were taken about 10 minutes after I noticed this issue, and by best guesses would have been in the early stages of this problem.
He was treated for the issue and has since made a full recovery, however it did make me think a bit more about possibilities of habitat issues.

I've never seen anything like it and honestly haven't a clue
Is it something to do with substrate,or maybe putting something in the viv that hasn't been washed first? Or from using the wrong cleaning products?
Probably daft questions bit like I said I really haven't a clue!!

I'm assuming its not anything like the beginnings of mouth rot as as you said this is something that can happen when you're looking after them well?

Well from someone with thankfully no experience of anything like this I was going to hazard a guess at something like mouth rot or a respiratory infection.

Glad he recovered ok for you K

I was going to say something like a respiratory infection, possibly with something linked to the digestive system? The foaming would suggest an issue with creating saliva or mucus of the mouth and nasal passages, would it not?

You say it is linked to habitat, so could it possibly be linked to something like a new accessory, or perhaps a live plant that was originally thought of as being ok for snakes, and turns out may be poisonous? Poor MBK looks very sorry for himself!

I think you told me what it was but I have never actually seen a photo of it so this is very helpful. Worthy of maybe as a reference in a other topic or a sticky as they really show it very clear.

I'm glad he's all better now though :D

My guess would be some sort of allergy or reaction to new substrate or new item in viv. Toxin of some sort..... Never seen it before.

Edit to add: Not gone for RI because that's too easy to look up on internet and I'm thinking Kehhlyr wouldn't make it easy!!

I'd hazzard a guess at either using too strong a cleaning agent to clean out the viv... Pure guess!

does she always rub her/his head against the viv? if you can see any mucus in there its mouth rot :(

first off quarantine it as it is contagious!!! you can clean it out with a cotton bud and 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 2 part water dont put to much in as it can get rid of the bad as well as the good bacteria

its not mouth rot, mucus in the mouth doesnt necessarily indicate mouth rot, it doesnt mean it isnt either, but mouth rotting snakes dont generally blow bubbles!!!
