OK so I was told my snake would be fine sleeping in the total dark, but on every video I see, it seems they have lamps in there tanks to keep it bright. Just wondered if someone could help me out, is it safe to leave them in the dark overnight or do they need a lamp in there? Bare in mind my snakes only about 12 weeks old. |

They don't have to have a light. It may be that the ones you've seen are just on for keeping the temps stable instead of night drop in temperature. Snakes like dark places to hide so your wee amel will be quite happy at night!! |

All my corns are in our lounge. They have no lights in their vivs during the day for heating or at night (i only use heat mats)and all of them including the two 12 week olds seem quite happy with the fact that when we go to bed so do they. All lights out. Hope this helps. |

if they don't have a dark 'night' period it can upset their body clock and cause stress and its related problems |

OK thanks a lot folks, just wasn't too sure and didn't want to stress the snake or cause it any harm. |
