Hello It has been a long time since I have been on here !! I was just wondering if I could have some advice on my female snake..?
She has been on a diet for a while now and has lost a lot of weight, I have been feeding her a medium mouse every two weeks, As I have said, she is quite slim now, and I'm not sure what to feed her or how often, I know they don't have to be fed as much as growing snakes, she is around 4 now I think and is around 4ft 10inches.
Also, I keep noticing around 2-3 weeks after her shedding, That she has like a shed coming off each scale sort of, not everyone, just her belly scales shed seem to peal off, if that makes sense :/ She is very healthy but I don't know if that is something t worry about or not.
Thanks for any help

Sorry I cant be much help on adult feeding as both of mine are young. But I do know (have read on here) that its usually an xl or jumbo mouse every ten days. (please feel free to correct me on that) All i do know is mine is around 36" long and two years old and he is on two medium mice every seven days. With regards to the shedding issue (which may be related to not eating enough again feel free to correct me) Id list more details about your set up ie the snakes viv or faun or whatever as it may help the more experienced on here get a better idea on what the problem may be.
cheers

My obese snake has this, I am putting it down to snake loosing weight although I'm not 100% sure but this has been happening with my snake for a while and he is fine.
How much did you used to feed her before the diet? |

Ohh phew, hope that is the thing that is happening, I thought she was ill :/ Umm, I haven't had her very long, but the previous owner used to feed her a big mouse very week and she didn't have time to hold her everyday, and her viv wasn't that big. So She was very tubby |

It you take a pic it would give a better idea :) I'm only guessing that it's a weight thing as fat snakes scales can fold so the folding action/unfolding can sort of damage the skin causing it to come off or at least, this is what is happening to Venom. On him I can see where the skin of the scales all folds up and kinda crinkles.
I'd say once she's a good size to maybe start with large every 2 weeks and then maybe up to jumbo if she need's it. Don't suppose you know her weight? |

try a medium mouse weekly but monitor her weight and adjust the feeding interval according to any weight gain or loss
are you doing anything specific to help her shed, like adding a damp hide? |
