Well, I guess I should introduce myself and my corn snake abit I'm Sika and my little lady's name is Aia (pronounced Eija). I got her in July when she was just a wee bit (2 months old). Bought her as a motley sunglow (agree with that?). Never imagined that I should get to be a snake keeper, but after my brother got one I caught the interest and couldn't live without one xD Now she's about four months old and an easy little creature, eats all she can get, and poops on me when she gets the chance ><
As you can see in the pictures she's an adventurous one:
The last picture is just after shedding
Look forward to sharing the joys of snakehood Sika <3 |

Do you really want to know how amazing this forum is? I have been planning for my snake for like at least 4 months and this bunch are still putting up with me even though I still have no little snakie on board! Everyone truly is so nice on here and you will realise that if anything is ever troubling you there will always be someone to jump to your rescue. Although we are here to teach each other things about snakes its also a great place to find friends, who you can talk to forever cause there is just that one thing in common. Have fun on the forum.
This is one of the few things I am ever actually enthusiastic about! :P

Hi Sika, it is really good that you and Aia have joined us....what beautiful names, both your snake's and your user name. You have obviously seen what a great forum this is, with lots of experienced owners happy to give their advice and support. You also get lots of fun and friendship .
I expect you have already found that there is a large amount of conflicting information out there about corn keeping – on the internet, in books, etc. Even on here you will find that people have different opinions.....but at least you have a place to ask what you need to know and get the answers from experienced owners. Then you can decide what to do with what you are told.
Unfortunately a lot of us have found that many pet shops cannot be trusted with what they are telling you . I know that I double check anything I am told on here. On this forum no question is regarded as a silly question....it is much better asked and answered, you will probably find others who want the info too! I am sure you have found the first place to look - the search button. I know you can get swamped with different topics including what you are searching for, so it is a bit daunting but worth a look. If you cant find the answer you are looking for then dont hesitate to ask!
I was so pleased to read in one of your posts about the notes you keep on Aia. I keep my own 'Snake Diaries'....noting things like weight, length, feeding dates and what you feed, shedding dates, health problems, when you do full viv cleans. I know it seems a bit over the top but it is actually really helpful keeping track of your snake's health - I even note when Kellog and Silvesta poo !!
Well done for complying with the unwritten forum rule without even knowing about it - pics as soon as possible! Aia is stunning....a beautiful snake with a beautiful name .

TCS does actually have a Facebook group - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=31273049277&ref=ts ....check it out.
A warning - corn snakes are addictive.....and yes, the majority of us have stood up, said "hello my name is ****, I am addicted to corns........! And I am proud of it!" I know you have had Aia since July, but you caught the bug from your brother and I just wonder how long it will be before another corn looks at you with those 'You want me, you need me, you love me' eyes !!

Thanks for the long, funny and lovely reply Kellog About the snakediaries: I've actually stopped trying to date her poos because they're so tiny I can't actually find them before cleaning the hole tank (except when she's so "cute" and dumps them on me...).
Ahh just LOVE this forum! And have joined the Facebook group too (thanks for the link).
And yes I'm already so addicted, but next on my list is a cute little hoggie <3 (And then probably lots more snakes xD). My family thinks I'm a bit "out there" because I actually think Aia can look disappointed when some of her plans don't succeed xD And that she loves me too in her own way xD
Love Sika. (Sika is my second name I've got four so they're not all on FB xD)
