I bought myself a gorgeous Green Spot Snow three weeks ago. The guy in the rep shop told me she was not quite two years old and was feeding on one large mouse every seven days. But other then that he was'nt keen on giving any other information about her. She's not shy in the slightest and seems in good health, the only worry I have is that she has a definite 'pinched' look all down the middle of her body. Is this normal for an active snake or does she need to put on a little weight? If so, whats the safest way to do this?
Thanx in advance |

if you cross-sectioned it's body would it be 'loaf of bread' shape? if so then i wouldn't be overly concerned, i try to keep mine on the lean side for the benefit of their own health (not that they're aware of this lol) too many corns are fat and squidgey and are overfed |

No she wouldn't be a 'loaf of bread shape' she'd be more 'pointy' at the top (if that makes any sense!)She's quite a nervous eater and I honestly don't think she'd take two mice; it takes ages for her to actually take one! Is there anything else a bit more fatty that I could offer her for a couple of weeks? |

rats have more fat content but it apparently can be difficult to get them back on mice. u'd maybe have to use a good sized rat pup tho as the others might be a bit big :] |

Not always the case my two cornsnakes switch from rats to mice and back with no problems i have not had a problem where they like the rats better then mice or mice better then rats and refuse to feed they always take whats given to them. |

I fed one of mine left over rats to fatten her up a bit, it worked. She does prefer rats more but she doesn't refuse a mouse or anything, just sometimes if she's been sat in there hours with it I have to give it a wiggle lol. |
A very special super, duper thanks for K :3 |

So do you guys suggest that I give her rat pups for a couple of weeks, or maybe rat pup one week and a mouse the next?? She's not severely underweight just think she could do with a bit of 'plumping up'! |

I'll try and get a decent pic of her so you can see, unfortunately my camera isnt too good so I'll see what I can do. The guy in the shop isn't very trustworthy so I don't know if he was actually feeding her every 7 days or not. Maybe it's just coz she's a really active snake and she's burning it off quickly, I don't know. Just thought I'd check |

yeah, thats what I was thinking eeji. I fed her last night and she did the most amazing strike and constrict, scared the life out of me coz my other corn doesn't!! Maybe I'll leave it for a few weeks and see if some regular feeds will do the job. Thanx for the advice everyone. |
