I want to buy some more things to go in Salizars viv, greenery and another hide, do I have to get the greenery and vines that is just for snakes, like they sell in the reptile shops, or can I use other sort of artificial greens and vines, I only have my pocket money so want to make sure I spend it wisely. Also I saw a skull in the pet shop that I would love to use as a hide but tis for a fish tank, will it still be safe.
Thanks everyone |

Yup! If you've been reading round the forum you might have heard mention of a place called Dunelm Mill - if there's one near you, it's incredibly cheap. Wilkinsons used to do cheap fake plants, don't seem to any more.
I find aquarium foliage is better value than standard rep foliage.
Anything safe for pets ought to be safe for reps, with the exception of wooden stuff, as this may be pine, which is toxic to snakes. However, stuff made out of coconut (check out rodent hides) and seagrass boxes (£3 for lidded box with holes in Instore) is safe.
Other people may have better ideas! |

Most plastic/fake plants and ornaments should be ok, but you may still need to be careful as they grow. We had a member on here some time back who had a skull in their viv, it looked great until the snake got a bit big and had to be cut out of the eye socket.
As for the penny fund, i'd highly recommend Dunelm mill, not long ago I went there again and got some nice stuff for a silly low price compared to reptile/fishy shops. Thread, piccys and prices of the purchases here: http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11649
And to quote someone from one of our other forums (who I forget their name, sorry): the only silly question is one that hasn't been asked |

LOL - when I started reading this I sort of went - uhh?? 'Most plastic/fake plants ... should be ok but you may still need to be careful as they grow...'
I wish! Pushing out loads of fake plastic buds and leaves ... mega good value!
Sorry ... just my weird sense of humour! |

Found some pretty cheap so that will be my next addition to the viv methinks! Managed to pick up a branch for £10 the other day rather than the extortionate £20 that everywhere else seems to charge. |
