should be damp not wet, or you could let him run through a damp cloth while you are holding him.

Do as gmac said and add some damp moss to the viv and let him slither thro' a damp towel as you handle him.
You could also put his water in the warm end to help raise humidity.
Has he retained much? What about the eye caps?
Sure if you follow above advice it will all be ok.

So you can't do the damp towel yet. I'd still add a damp hide and move his water, it will help with the retained shed. Bless him, it can't bother him too much if he fed ok!!

Hey great, told you he would! With a bit of humidity/moisture as advised, it will come off easily.

Hope you had good hols!

If its just the tip of his tail he won't get it off himself until he sheds again, personally I use my finger nails to get it off, its quick and easy. Maybe give it a spray with water first, just to soften it up a little.

That's interesting to know - thought it was me being impatient ... - yeah, I've wet or bathed and then towelled or massaged with fingertips ... corn skin's so soft though, just slides off ... royals - that's a whole different ball game! Does come off with patience and gentleness though.

Try helping a 9ft boa who's viv looked like the skin had exploded off the body!
It took me ten minutes to get 8 inches of skin off, she was out, that's all she cared about, and damned if she wasn't gonna make the most of it!
