Hi guys...

Just looking at buying a hatchling, my mum knows a breeder, however i have moved quite a way from there now. (She's in Stoke, I'm in London)

Will a lil snakie be ok in the car for 4 hours? and how shall i (for want of a better word!) 'pack' him? Will he be ok without a heat mat for that long?

At the same time i don't want to put unnecessary stress on the lil guy so if its a bad idea please say so and i will try and find a more local snake!

the hatchling should be fine, just make sure that the hatchlings homes all set up so u can put it straight in there when u get back and leave it for atleast a week to settle in before u try handle it :) when i transport mine i usually have them in tubs and strap the tubs in or hold them firmly on my lap :)

You should be fine. Don't forget that some snakes manage to escape and go for days, even weeks, before they are found so a couple of hours won't hurt.
Let us know when you get your hatchie home and photos as soon as the week settling period has gone!!

Putting the snake into a tied up pillow case or similar, then inside a rub is the way i'd transport them.
Provided it hasn't eaten for a few days before hand as well it should be ok.

I had a king delivered from Glasgow to Bournemouth a few months back, the driver took nearly 9 hours in total. She arrived safe and sound.

If you are concerned about the heating, you could always use the pocket warmers around the rub they last for hours. You dont need expensive ones you can pick them up in poundland easy enough.

oooh good idea ;)

lol i feel like i transport some random things... couple months ago i moved the fish down in a cool box wedged behind the driver's seat... and once we found a tiny tiny baby snail living in the bathroom rug at my bf's house... so i took it back to mine and he sat on the dashboard by the speedo!! We called him Dude and he lived with me for a year lol then we set him free in the woods...random story of the day!
