| i went into the pet shop today to get karma a few mice, and a few of the vivs with corns in had like water splats on the wall and i noticed they had spray water bottles on the side. can anyone tell me what was the reason for spraying the viv when snakie was in there |

The only thing I can think of is that the snakes are in shed and they're upping the humidity to enable them to shed more easily?
Some people mist or give a quick bath, some people provide a damp hide, put the water bowl on the heat mat or near source of heat (extra evaporation = greater humidity) - a big water bowl allows snakey to soak, too.
This has to be done in moderation, of course, ultra-damp conditions aren't good for corns. |

| Some people also lightly mist the snakes tanks a couple times a week. I do it, and have yet to have a problem. I was advised to do it by two different shops that I trust and respect. It simulates the rain that they would encounter in the wild. |

As said it may have been that they were in shed. Or that the shops thought it needed to be done we all know that they can often give inaccurate advice at best so they may of thought they need it. Its hard to speculate particularly when it was being done in a pet shop, without knowing what that pet shops is like.
I personally don't mist any of my snakes tanks, corns don't need any extra humidity and mine all shed fine. |

I find that my adults shed okay with no misting or upping of the humidity. But I've found that when they were hatchlings, upping the humidity a little did help. This is just my experience - not saying it's a hard and fast rule. |

i agree with eeji above
though some specied DO require higher humidity achieved by misting eg rainbow boas a lot of pet shops have a blanket policy regardless of species |

Ah, I know what you mean!
Like some garden centres 'water' the plants ie aim a strong jet at the foliage regardless of the parched flowerpot ...
Sorry - I need to create a plant lib thread, but talk about encounters with the living dead ...
