I would guess too much moisture, RI's and all that. May beable to dry it out in oven though......but someone will beable to give a definite answer i imagine...

Also dried stuff might get under scales and cause problems.....stay with the good old proven stuff!

i would stick to the aspen, i think peat will hold moisture even if you cant feel it. When its damp it gets sticky, which will then stick to the scales and to the skin and cause prolonged exposure to the moisture and you could end up with a bit of scale rot, and possibly Resp Infection.
Think you will find they make a right mess with it too.
