I need to know how long it can take for hatchlings to emerge from their shell?? I've got 19 eggs and the first one began hatching yesterday morning. This is my first successful clutch and I want to make sure it goes well. I'd be grateful for any advice ....

They should all hatch within 24 hours of each other. If they don't, you may want to cut the egg and see if it's alright/give it a hand.

(One of mine pipped, but then went back in and drowned itself)

i'd personally, as a small-time hobby breeder, give it 48hrs then slit the eggs BUT....

i'd wait for one of the big breeders like eeji or mikerichards advice!

If they are hatching, then wait, if you get to a point that they stop, then cut the eggs.
Cutting is a total last resort, if you get it even slightly wrong you will kill the baby.
You also need to use a scalpel, anything else is not sharp enough.
something to remember though, sometimes eggs don't hatch for a good reason, its natures natural selection.
