I'm looking to invest in a thermostat for my corn but was bombarded with the different kinds that Habistat supply. I wanted a digital thermo as I was told that they are more accurate for my heat mat. Which one is the best to buy for my corn and where?
Do I need one that has day/night dimming functions and would it work on a heat mat? I'm not worried about cost, only want whats best for my snake.
Would I also need a thermometer aswell? |

You could just get a simple on/off thermostat. These turn on when the temp drops below a set temp and off again when the temp reaches a set temp. They tend to fluctuate by around 3-4c before turning on/off.
Then there are pulse stats which are much more accurate, my Microclimate pulse stat tends to fluctuate by around 0.5c but apparently habistat ones are a little more accurate. I can't back this up though as i haven't used one.
Dimmer stats can also be used with mats apparently but are mainly used with heat lamps, again i haven't used one so cannot comment on them.
You will also need a digital thermometer as the thermostat probes arn't very accurate so a digi thermometer will help to set the temperatures. |

I just purchased a exo terra combo meter which is a digital thermometer and a hydrometer in one. I also just ordered the Habistat temperature thermostat and a new terrarium for my corny. |

Cool, that sounds OK but IMO your'e wasting money, as you wont need a hydrometer, as the UK's humidity is fine for corns,
but I guess it's interesting to know the humidity but in all honesty, not many people use one and I think they are a waste for something like £14.. when on ebay you can get a digital thermometer for £2.. |

They do the same thing, some better find micro-climate good, other habistat. I have only used the habistat pulse and they do the job that I want them to do fine. The other reason I didn't get a microcliamte is because it looks like you need a shrew driver to alter the temps wile habistat have a knob and that's just easier for me. For stats, ebay is probably the best place to look. |
A very special super, duper thanks for K :3 |

Where is everyone placing their probes because I read somewhere that you place it in the middle of the tank but I placed my old one on the heat mat. Which ones right and what temps are best? |

If you have a pulse stat try aiming for around 28c.
What are you housing your corn in? |

The stat probe wants to be in full direct contact with the heat mat all the time. As for stats, both do exactly the same thing, just made by different people, its your choice really. |
