| hi to all, our corn,'noodles' as named by our six year old as apparentley he looks like a supernoodle over the past few days has had the blue eyes and dull skin. his eyes have cleared up today and skin looks quite bright, no shed skin in viv. i have read other posts before writing this and i'm expecting it to happen in the next day or so. thing is, he's only young and currently living in an exo terra glass viv 30x30x45 until hes ready for a proper one and his favourite hiding place is wrapped up in the greenery at the top of the viv. he's been up there for last 4 days or so, surely he won't shed up there will he or will he come down when ready. |

| just keep a eye on her, she should be fine just keep changing water and spray some water in there :) |
my aunties, bestfriends, hairdressers, friends boyfriend had a snake and it stretched out to measure him to eat him......true story.....

| He will probably come down to run against things on the floor but if he can get his shed started up there then he probably will. Nothing to worry about though, they're excellent climbers. |

As Danny has said Lee, it isnt anything to worry about. Corns are amazingly agile and although they arent supposed to be arboreal a lot do spend their time up in branches and plants.
I wouldnt think it is necessary for you to spray water in at this point in time. This is Noodles first shed with you and hopefully he should do it without any need of help.
I would THINK that Noodles would come down to shed....for the reasons Danny has given, his need to loosen the shed from around his jaw. What you need to look out for is him being a bit more active, then rubbing his head along the sides of his viv, hide, any branches, etc. Once he has managed to loosen it then the actual shedding process can happen very quickly! But be warned....I am convinced there is a corn-conspiracy  ! They seem to wait until their owners leave the room and then slip out of their old skin and slither round quite happily in their new bright colours showing them off when their owners return to the room....with their old skin lying forlorn in the corner  . Seriously though, a lot of corns shed at night and I know a number of members havent had the chance to see their corns shed....despite keeping them for a number of years. So I really do hope you get lucky and get to see Noodles shed.
Good luck extracting the shed skin from his viv if he does decide to shed in 'the treetops' ! What is vital once he has shed is checking the skin for the eye caps and tail tip....as if these are retained they can cause problems. If the shed is not a clean one then you know where you can come....

| noodles did eventually come down around 8pm this evening an went straight into his hide. didn't notice any activity or scratching of the head. he popped his head out followed by the rest of him at just gone 11pm an shed his complete skin including eye caps and tail tip right infront of me which was great to watch. just as the tip was coming off he let fire from all barrells from the rear end luckily just missing the shed skin. i'm sure little leon will be very excited in the morning an wanting to take it to school to show his friends. i've just measured the shed and he is exactly 22" in length, any estimates on age. also he's still on one pinkie every sunday, is this enough for him. thanks for all the help, oh an how long to wait before handling after the shed, cheers. |

That is fantastic news Lee! You are so lucky to have seen Noodles shed like that! Dont be surprised by the 'gift'  he left at the end....that happens a lot, you are just lucky he didnt do it during the shed, which they sometimes do, then poor Leon would have a very smelly offering that I doubt he would want to take to school !
A warning....be ready for all your lad's parents to get cross with you as once Leon's friends have seen the shed and seen Noodles they are all going to want snakes of their own - been there and experienced that !
With his length you need to subtract 10% of the shed length to get an approximate idea of his true length. Unfortunately you cant really judge his age based on length as all corns grow at different rates.
I am surprised you are feeding him one pinkie once a week, normally a pinkie would be fed every 5 days. How much does he weigh and when he eats the pinkie does it leave a bump? The answer to these questions then helps you to work out whether he is eating enough.
This is part of a VERY ROUGH guide you can use to give you a basic idea of what size food he should be on....but I know forum members whose snakes should supposedly be on a certain size cos of their weight but arent big enough for them yet, so you should only use it in conjunction with common sense and a knowledge of your snake, it should not be followed religiously.
Mouse size/feeding guide:
Snake (4 – 15g) = 1 Pinkie (0.5 – 3g) - feed every 5 to 6 days
Snake (16 – 23g) = 2 pinkies (3 – 4g) - feed every 5 to 6 days
Snake (24 – 30g) = small fuzzy (3 – 6g) - feed every 6 to 7 days
Snake (30 – 50g) = fuzzy (7 – 9g) - feed every 6 to 7 days
As for handling him after a shed you can do that straight away! Just expect him to be very fast, slippy and hard to catch !
