Hi
Our new corn snake poos every time she's out of her viv...I mean, every time! It's really annoying.
She eats fine & has shed fine...is it stress? What am I doing wrong? How often should I handle her? Will she grow out of doing it?
Help me please! She's such a darling girl (aside from the p**ping episodes)
Thanks |

Some snakes do poo when they come out. As long as she's healthy in every other way then I'd try not to worry too much. How often do you handle her and for how long at a time? Is she mostly happy to be handled? How old is she? How long have you had her, you say new so I assume not long? It varies with people on here how often they handle their snakes. It tends to depend on how much the snakes like it and how much time the owner has. I'm sure she'll settle down given time. |

Thanks for your replies. We've had her 6 weeks & she's a sweetheart in every other way, always seems happy to come out of her viv & seems calm & relaxed, i.e. not trying to get away, and not being jumpy at all.
She's 2/3 yrs old, an amelanistic female, just had her 1st shed. We get her out once a day amd she's fine, but then she'll pause, lift her tail & poop all over the place!! Every time!! It stinks too and to be honest it's putting us off getting her out (as we know what's gonna happen).
The shop we got her from have said it's a stress thing, which makes me feel awful I do hope she's happy.
Any advice, all this is new to us & I'd hate to think we're upsetting her. She's called Simba by the way |

Sorry - forgot to say she's normally out for about 15mins a day. |

How often do you feed her? My corns only tend to poo once a week, usually a couple of days after a feed. |

are you leaving her for 48hours after feeding? usually they will poop in this time although you may want to think about leaving her for another 24hours after that to poop before you handle her |

Hi again - thanks for advice
We're feeding her one medium mouse every week, and leaving her for 24hrs after that. She's literally only pooped in her viv twice, all the rest have been on us
I'll definitely try leaving her for 48hrs...I'll try anything to be honest. |
