I can't work out from the photos on Ian's Vivarium which one of these is the one I want to go for! I want a yellow-er snake with decent amounts of black, with the black being more important than the yellow-ness of the background/saddles; which morph is best for that?

I'm thinking amber > honey > caramel > butter

Well if the black around the saddles is important then you can mark off butters as they contain the amel gene which causes the snake to have no melanin.

I think Amber is a hypo caramel(?) which means reduced melanin so your best bets would be caramel which tend to be a browny colour with black borders or honey which are more yellow in the saddles and still have the black borders.

I'd probably go for a hunny although i don't know how common these are or the price they carry. Caramels on the other hand are more common and i think are generally around £40-£50.

I've looked on there and I think the honey morph is really stunning. The contrast between the yellow and black is very eyecatching. I'd love a honey female.

Lawks! Yes, I think a caramel it is. Thanks people!

I really like butter stripes but I know they cost £££ as well. For the normal/motley pattern though the black is deffo important to me - everyone seems desperate to breed it out of snakes but I'd love to see someone breeding in really big bold black outlines in the more unusual morphs, if it's possible. (My biology GCSE is MANY moons behind me so my genetics knowledge is pants.)

you missed out Topaz too - theres not much black left on these, but they do get bright! The downside is they are even more expensive than honeys :(

Why are the honey corns so expensive then, they are great but not worth £500 in my opinion.

Yup, There are only a handful of Honey corns around. Most combinations with Sunkissed are still pretty rare although will become less so in the next few years. I would have thought you'd pick up a Honey for about £250 in 2011.

Cheers
