I baby talk to all of mine. I like to think they can understand and that they talk back by sticking their tongues out at me XD
I often ask if they enjoyed their meals or what they are staring at me. I also ask Venom if he would like a kissey :3 |

I get teased so much by my OH and kids for talking to the snakes and my dog....especially the snakes as they cant even hear my voice! According to them I talk more to Kellog and Silvesta than I do to them !!
I think it is habit and also therapeutic....and I have actually caught my OH talking to Kellog when he didnt realise I was around (I didnt tell him I had heard him, let him have his fun teasing me....I know his secret !!)
I am curious now though....do any owners of the male gender talk to their corn snakes? (I put corn in front of that for a reason....I could just see where that comment might lead ) I think us women probably talk to our animals more as we do tend to communicate more....whereas the male of the species still has to learn the fine art of communication !!

I talk to mine all the time! my OH takes the mis, as I talk to them lots, but when they're out, he does talk to them, i.e., if he's holding them, and they try to slither off, and he'll say things like 'ooh, where do you think you're going? I don't think so! You won't like it over there!" etc!!

im most definatley a bloke, and i talk to mine, although primarily to my royals at feeding time when im more prone to say "why can you not be more like our Kingsnake".
My kids even go round each viv / faun saying goodnight to all our snakes and dragons, but I think this may be a scam to stay out of bed.

Lulz, we talk to Ruby sometimes. Adam usually just says hello to her as he walks into the room, but I can often be heard muttering things like 'Why, you cheeky little...' under my breath |

:D mine always react when I talk to them.
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=17+1831&aid=2974
"They also do not have an external ear, middle ear, or tympanic membrane (eardrum). Instead, they use a small ossicle (ear bone), called the "columella," to detect vibrations of sound waves conducted through the ground. They are able to pick up some sound waves conducted through the air, but only at very low frequencies."
