hey guys thanks for all your answers.

i think the 2 boxes of black ones ive had have been silent. was using brown before that and had the escaping all the time and the were soooooooooooooo loud it was untrue.

i have noticed that there bite is a little more as i found one eating a brown that was in the viv.
they cant get in to the moist hide where my male sleeps and they dont stand a chance with my female she is a true hunter. nothing lasts long in her viv.
so shouldnt have a problem with them nibbling my leos.

gonna stick with them and see how i go.

thanks again.

MM hows your roach breeding going????

lobster roaches = 100s ! lol

Dubias = only a couple of adults, the rest are not quite there yet. Soon They will have tons of babies though.

Wax worms = 1000s ! lol

Mealworms = only a few visible babies so A long while until they're used for food.....

easier to keep roaches than crickets for me personally.

The roaches are silent, dont smell, have more 'meat' on them, move a little slower so not too difficult to catch (some crix never get eaten - survival experts lol) plus they will produce live young.

keep them hot, well fed with very little humidity - well none apart from the apples or carrots provided as moisture.

I would go for dubia roaches as they cant climb & move a little slower than lobsters (& these climb).

If you buy the dubias off ebay (cheap) as adults you will not have to wait long for them to get to breeding size (when they have wings) & then you'll have babies sooner. Otherwise you'll be waiting months !

I think on ebay they're sold in 25/35 min up to 100 in small/med/large unless it's changed now ?
25/35 small £6-8 incl. del. which is next day if ordered early previous day.

They can go without water for ages too & food (but there's no need for this though) so are more hardy Vs crix IMO.

Good luck with them if you decide to go with roaches.

P.s they will def breed & if you go for lobsters put a 1-2 inch smear of thick vaseline on the top edge of the inside of the tank to stop them trying to climb out - they hate it & will stay clear preventing any escapes !
