Me and my boyfriend recently bought two corn snakes, about 1 year old. They came with their own viv, we've since found out that the vivarium door, although it shuts fully at the bottom, there is a gap between the glass and the wood at the top, which has now been corrected with a rubber wedge. I realised this after finding only one snake in the viv the day after we got them, I cannot express how distressed I am about this. To add to the guilt, we live with his parents, if they were to find out before we find her then they would make us sell the remanining snake, I really do not want to part with him as he is so calm. I am confident we will find her, but do not know how long it will take, and it will be much easier to explain having three snakes, than why there is only one.

I need to find a corn snake in the next few days as similar to the lighter coloured snake (on the right in 1st photo) in the photographs as possible, it must be lighter in colour than the other snake, about 50-55cm/20 inches (this doesn't have to be exact, just roughly so they'll be similar sized) and the markings on it's head must be vaguely shaped like a penis, as we noticed this and laughed about it. Male or female, sex isn't an issue. Preferably in north west england, but I would be willing to travel by train to collect as it is urgent. Please do not request a high price for the snake, although I really need one, I can't afford to pay a stupid price, as i'm going through a stupid number of fluffs to try and lure out the missing one, and will continue to do this untill she is found.

I know you will be looking for a good home for the snake. and after reading that may be a bit concerned, but we own a number of other reptiles who are very well cared for and this has never happened before. I really cannot tell you how much this has upset me, I feel so sick and guilty you couldn't imagine, and i'm so worried his parents will make us sell the boy if they find out.

Please get back to me if you can help, or atleast tell me what this morph is called (presuming just normal).

I hope you find your other one. Have you tried masking tape traps? or leaving loads of clothes on your floor? If they find a warm, dark pocket or sock they are likely to stay there, so it makes them easier to find.

We lost a snake a few months ago and the pinkie traps didn't work that well. She ended up in the washer, but I don't think she got to the kitchen on her own. More than likely, she was hiding in the wash basket and we just missed her when checking the load.

Another thing- make sure there is water down on the floor for them. The snake is more likely to die of dehydration than hunger.

Good luck!
