We nearly got a monitor once, but was put off once we'd done the research. Apparently they are quite messy and are impossible to fill. They will eat you out of house and home!

It might be worth it though to have a lizard big enough to walk around on a dog lead

Recently had an article in the local newspaper, there's actually people in carlisle that walk their montiors around the local park, it backs onto my house, getting in touch with the paper to see if I can get an online version so that I can post it on the forum.

I had a boscs monitor with the hope of taming him - no chance & didn't eat me out of house n home.

I wouldn't go for an iguana as you're adding to vertical space not just floor space.

I had a 6' x 2' x 2' for my boscs who was only 2ft at the time & still growing (into a nasty b*stard)
