Hello you lot, I'm wanting to give toad scenting a go so just wondered...

Has anyone ever done this? and if so, any tips?

Wilbur is still not eating his pinkies and although it's tempting to just grab and use Lewy's toads I think they are poisoness to little Hognoses, so I'm off to buy a frozen frog or lizard (if any Reptile shops around here sell them).

Not really sure what I'm doing, so if no one has any advice I was just going to keep the frozen frog/toad/lizard in the bag with his pinkies and maybe give them a quick rub together before feeding.

What do you think?

Not sure how far you are from Markham Nurseries (Pet Section Direct Number = 01302 728530)

I'm pretty sure I've seen them selling frozen lizards, but you could give them a call they're very helpful.

I can't, I'd never see him. He'd always be on it

Saying that though, he's not the one who blew up the lawn mower today, better find a comfy spot on the stairs eh?

Definitely, and some laminate flooring, a shower, a dishwasher and a new lawn mower too

We would like more snakes, but with us both working full time and Lewy having his stag to work on and me being an addicted net nerd, the house isn't getting the time it deserves. When we get sorted and settled we might get a BRB, but 7 snakes, 2 toads and 11 fish are enough for the minute.

Not going to try the toad scenting today, because Lewy said hoggies can sometimes be tempted to eat using mouse tails. They are smaller to put into their mouths so could be just enough to get them started.

I hope poor Cyd doesn't get confused though- she's going to wonder if she's made the first ever known discovery of the lesser spotted Manx mouse

Just to update- the mouse tail didn't work

So I took some other advice that Lewy had picked up and moved him down to a smaller rub. He was only in one of those terranium things, but Lewy heard that hoggies really, really don't like big spaces, so I put him in a 3L Rub that only just about fits his hide, water bowl and himself in it.

Tried to feed him again today with a brained pinkie, but no joy.

Definitely time to bring on the toads mi'thinks!
