Hello, quick question. What male would be the best mate for Wiggle (Amel, no known hets) to most likely not produce a clutch of Normals?

I'm thinking a Snow, which should give me either Amels or Snows?

Please correct me if I'm wrong and let me know your thoughts of a best mate.

Cheers

you will only get amels from pairing wiggle with another corn snake that carries the amel trait.

Unless you breed to an ultra or ultramel.

snow is amel x anery; if your snake is amel & doesn't carry anery then = no snows.

MM, could you let me know if the statements below are correct, this is what a friend has said, he usually knows what he's talking about.

'most amels will be het snow or anery.. there isnt many that simply are not het for anything..'

Regarding breeding with a Snow:-

'if your snakes ISNT het for anery, then you will get 100% amels, and they will then be het for snow. if your snake turns out to be het anery, which is very possible, then you will get amels and snows..'

Cheers

well to say all amels are het anery is like saying all hypos are het caramel.

Why would most/all amels be het anery ?

You cant just assume this.

Breeders should be honest & label their corn snakes even if they're just possible hets.

If your amel IS het anery, crossed to a snow then;

1/2 amel het anery
1/2 snow

If not;

100% amel het anery

But who's to say the snow is not het for anything too.....

So the first statement about most Amels being het for something is incorrect?

well yeah I mean why would they be ?

They were (I think) the first 'morph' back in the day so they've been around a while, but that doesn't mean they're more het for something than any other morph.

Fair enough, like I said, this guy usually knows what he's talking about but I thought I'd check with you :)

Is there no way I can guarantee a clutch that isn't 100% normal then?

This is basically a ghost corn so anery x hypo. If you bred this to your amel you will have all normals het coral snow.

As all my other posts; cross to something containing amel either in its genotype or phenotype.

Anyone would think you're a spammer !
