I've had Birch and Spruce for about 5 or 6 years, I bought them both as adults, about 3-4ft long, is there any way of working out how old they might be? They both shed about every 7-10 weeks so their growth has slowed down considerably and they are 4-5ft long now.

with horses you can tell by their teeth but with snakes????

(told you I had something to pick your brains about moneymaker!!)

hmmm lol; anywhere from 3-6 years maybe. they usually get darker from 8 years onwards. there colour gets duller & not so vibrant.

At a guess I'll go with 8 years lol.

I suppose I'd worked out that much - they must have been probably at least 2-3 years old to be adult size when I bought them, plus me owning them for 5-6 years, = 8 years or more
so there's no giveaway on a snake's age then?? horses are a lot easier - full set of baby teeth at 3years, full set of adult teeth at 5years etc etc.

no not really not exact anyway. has the colour got darker or duller since you owned the snake ? if yes, when did it start. If no it could still be at the 8-10 year mark minimum.
