Hi Guys,
Apologies if this has been asked b4, but although I am getting a faun box for the initial arrival of baby snakie, we have the opportunity to get all the 'next size up' vivarium through a customer ready for when she is older. My question is looking at the product book I cant decide if to get a glass one or the wooden type. Are there any major pros or cons either way or is it personal choice?
Thanks in advance |

ive always used glass tanks or vivs for any reptile, etc. that ive had, there easy to clean, can put the mat under, you get a better look at the pet u spent your hard erned cash on and i think glass looks a lot better |

Glass:
Pro's:
~ Easy to see animal and set-up ~ Easy to see dirt ~ Easy to clean ~ Has no problem with humidity (though thats not really needed for corns)
Con's:
~ Doesnt hold heat well ~ Will get very hot if in sunlight ~ Can smash ~ Can crack if heatmat doesnt have ventilation ~ Snake can feel insecure ~ Can not fix light fittings to it ~ Depending on what kind of tank, some can only be opened from the top, which is fairly threatening for a snake
Wood:
Pro's:
~ Still fairly easy to clean ~ Removable front doors ~ Things can be screwed into the side of the viv ~ Holds heat well and is less affected by outside temps ~ Wooden vivs can be stacked ontop of each other ~ Snake is more likly to feel secure
Con's:
~ The wood can absorb moisture (including animal waste) if not sealed correctly ~ Less visability of pet ~ High humidity can be bad for the viv (not a problem with corns)
Personaly I prefer wooden vivs.

Yep i'm with Matty on this one, only had one glass viv and it was a pain in the bum, too cold in winter too hot in summer. Like living in a greenhouse really. Plus you can stack wooden vivs a real bonus in my house! |

i dont think the brand matters much. just what you think is the better build quality(probably made by the same firm any way) |

I'd go with a wooden viv every time. Much easier to make to your exact size specifications too. |

I prefer glass,i have got an exo terra and cannot fault it. The only thing wrong is you cannot stack them. For that reason the rest will have to be wood. |
