Mojo is about to have his first shed with me, so have some questions for the forum gurus

I fed him on Sunday evening, and he's just come out of hiding. I noticed he has gone pale and is starting the shed process.

I dont have any moss and dont know if I'll be able to get any soon.
Does he need it? Should I place a bowl of water in big enough for him to fit in? If yes which end should the water be in?? (warm or cold)
All advice welcome.

oh, the folks I got him from didn't seem to follow some other basic rules I have learned from here so I am guessing that he has just been left to shed on his own in the past, and they did say he shed ok, but I just want to make it as easy as possible for the lil tike

Cheers y'all

Hi Mick, Place a bowl of water in the warm end that way it will raise the humidity. Also if you have a small plastic container, cut a hole in it so Mojo can get in and you can use wet paper towels instead off moss.

Cheers for that, is the bowl just to increase humidity or does it need big enough for him to bath in??
Typically I dont have any kitchen towel at the mo, but have white roll (thats what we call it) its like reusuable cloth that comes on a big roll, would that be ok to use????

basically this stuff https://www.rshughes.com/products/036000_05007.html

oh and do i scrunch it up or put in flat in layers or???????

That cloth is fine mick. The bowl can be big enough for them to soak in but my 2 never went in it. Try one big enough as you wont know until you try.

Didn`t see your last line. I put a layer on the bottom then scrunch the rest up a bit, enough so Mojo can crawl through it but tight enough so he can scrape against it if that makes sense.

Water dish is fine in hot or cold end- as said above, in the hot end it will raise humidity. Whether or not your snake will sit and soak in it's water dish depends on them, but make sure it is big enough to allow it if they want.

TBH i'd leave him to shed normally............
and only intervene if there's a problem. increasing the humidity for any length of time leaves your snake open to disease such as RIs and scale rot. just make sure his water bowl is big enough for him to use if he wants to
