Is it actually worth doing this? I haven't fed my guy yet but i'm going to offer him his first pinky on monday. Should I take him out to feed him? |

I and a lot of others feed them in a seperate box. I do it on basis that he knows that when he's in there tats when hes getting fed, and not when I or the kids put our hands in his viv, if ya know what I mean. Plus there is no chance that he/she can eat the substrate, I know in the wild a snake can possibly eat things stuck to its prey, but I haven't invested time and money in those ones lol |

take my lil one out every friday n place her in feed tub she is certainly associating the lid coming off with the feeding of two pinkies as she is quite happily comin out on her own now within first ten mins of lid coming off..to start with shed take a gd half hour.. but now its starting to be set routine ya do notice the difference plus its a time to have a few mins hold without stressin em too much, they tolerate a hold then get to chow down... so defo say worth the few mins to put them in seperate tub,. |

I feed mine outside the viv as he started getting a bit snappy at my fingers, thinking i would be food. Has been much better since he has been fed in his box. |

I feed mine out of the her viv, in a large plastic box. I agree with what everyone else seems to be saying about getting the snake to associate feeding with being outside the viv in another box as this means there's less chance of the snake thinking your hand might be food every time you go to pick it up Also, i've heard other people say that they feed them in the viv but put some kind of feeding mat down, or provide a feeding dish in order to avoid the snake ingesting any of the substrate. hope this helps |

gently! you can handle them back into the viv just don't keep them out playing. or you can carefully tip them back in. after they've finished eating i leave mine for a good 10 mins or so before putting them back into their vivs, this gives them chance to come down from feeding mode and start to feel full |

I've tried feeding Alice outside her viv and she persistently refuses to eat.
If I return her to her viv and put the same mouse in too in her feeding tub, she'll take it almost immediately. Odd girl!

that's quite likely feeding in the viv is a useful tool for reluctant feeders |

All my corns feed in tubs but one of the Boas will only feed in the viv, and then only if he feels like it! I don't stress him by trying tubs anymore. |

TBH i feed my boas in their vivs but for different reasons....... Dumbo i feed in the tub as it's his 'safe' environment Marilyn, well, i don't really want to be putting my hands in to get her when she's had a whiff of food!! |

Would be ok to feed in the viv as long as you give him regular handling so he knows not to always jump at your hand when you first open up? |

depends on what substrate your using........ feeding on paper or kitchen roll is no risk, aspen you'r likely to get away with it, but chippings it's just not worth the risk!
