I'm so lucky where I live. At the end of a quiet road of the suburbs of a smal lvillage, I'm surrounded by about 5-6 miles of open filed and general forest. So, after a day of colelge and art work etc, I take nice long nature rambles around these fields, sometimes taking my camera with me.

Not too far from my house, there's a lovly little bridge over a ditch that I find is a lovly place to sit and watch the sun go down behind the trees, ligthing up the cornfields in the most glorious way. And another creature seems to share my passion.

A littel fox.

He seems fairly elderly, quite grey around his haunches and his muzzle. But 9 times out of 10, when I go to sit at the bridge, he's sat there too, about 100 m down the path. Just sitting and watching.
So, over the last month or so, I've started getting aquainted with him. I'll sit very quielty and watch him, and he watches me. We regularly spend an hour + just watching each other.

But, the annoying thing is, every time I take my camera, he never turns up. It's like he knows, and doesn't want our relationship to go public

So I've decided to make a fox diary on ehre for anyone else who shares my love for the wonderful English wildlife.

I'm going to start taking my camera and little titbits, bacon, chicken etc, and try and get some nice photos. I'll also update on how he seems to be doing, and tell you his little stories of playtime with mice and such.

Sorry for hte long psot guys! Hope you'll enjoy reading my updates and seeing the photos if I manage to get any!

On our estate, theres like a little land plot which is private to a few residents, its dense and dark with 4 trees; and theres a fox den in the corner.

100m or so from my front door; normally they all come out at around 10ish when we lock up and let the dog out, he hates them!

i also hate it when I have to clear up the rubbish off the green from their feastings out of our wheelie bin!!

Good on you; get some pics

A few years ago, I got back from a quiet night out just as a thunder storm started.
As it was warm and muggy, I decided to sit in the garden for a bit.
I sat quietly watching the storm, when I heard a noise beside me. I was surprised to see a fox, sitting no more than three feet from me.
He/she wasn't bothered that I was there.
Then I heard another noise the other side. This one turned out to be a hedgehog, about the same distance away.
The three of us sat there in the rain for about ten minutes, until the storm got too close and I decided to go indoors. I looked out about ten minutes later and they were both still there.
I went to bed, and although I often saw the fox, never saw the hedgehog again.
Its a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

In the flat I live in now, we have squirrels that visit us on a daily basis, who sit on the kitchen windowsill, eating monkey nuts that we put out for them. Even taking them from our hands. They even sit there watching me wash up. Not bad considering that we live on the first floor. Its funny watching them climb the brickwork.
And yes. I am a nature lover.

Ahh I love foxes (infact all creatures - apart from daddy long legs ergh!!)
My parents house is brilliant for wild life, they have a few bats fly right up to the light at the front door to get the moths, loads of time I have stood really still as a bat has flown right by, accompanied by the hedgehogs rustling in the bushes then trotting across the lawn to eat the hedgehog food my dad puts out (before snuggling up in their hedgehog house). They also have a bat box on the side of the house.
Then every year my mum has a pair of ducks that visit and sit in the front garden quacking at the front door to be fed!
They also get squirrels that come on the window sill and birds that sit waiting for my dad to feed them (they get fed better than some people, brown bread - as they arent keen on white, cheese, ham etc!!)
They also have a really cute rat that comes from under the bush (which I sneak out and feed when no one is looking!!)
So I love visiting my parents, its like a wildlife reserve!!

Beware of the teeth and potential diseases mind!!

I SEE a fox and the only local animals that keep me amused is when the wasp meets the newspaper
