if its like mine I get lower temps during the night, so when I check what max and min has been i get about the same readings

depends how warm your room gets too i find, if we have the heating on drying clothes on the radiators, the temp rises so i adjust the stat, etc etc

Hope that helps

Matty where have you put the probe from the stat. The temps shouldnt be that much of a difference. What are you measuring the temp with?

ok cheers lee i will try that.
im just worried that if i cant get it working correct a big jump in temps will harm snowy.
it does take a long time to go from 85 - 74 its not a fast jump but i will go do it now and see what happens

cheers

Is it a wooden viv with the mat inside or a glass viv with the mat outside. Sounds like the stat might not be working properly.

lol, it doesnt smell or look like food. I dont go around eating bricks or phones etc..

There was a thread on the dark side a while ago though about a snake eating a thermometer probe, wasnt a corn though.

Apparently microclimate's are less accurate than habistat stats.

I have heard that microclimates ar`nt that accurate. I would say it is the stat. I have got a Habistat pulse stat and the temp stays at 86.4 no matter what the weather.

another thing to consider is if the snake had been in the cool end, then goes and 'parks' itself up against the therm probe in the warm end.................... giving you a falsely low reading!
