Hello everyone,

I have just joined the corn snake forum, and I am hoping to gain a bit of help and advice!

I am thinking about getting myself a corn snake, it will be my very first snake, and Im a little bit nervous!

I've been told by friends that they're relatively easy to look after, and corn snakes dont mind being handled, but Im not sure where to get one from in the first place!

The local pet shop by me sells baby corns in various colours, but they're all about £100! Is there another place for me to look for a baby?

Any other hints, tips, help and advice would be fantastic, so thank you in advance!

Hiya and welcome.
Also have a look at the care sheet on the main page, it gives some info about them that could be handy.
There are also several threads spread about on the forum as well that could give you more pointers.
Likewise, just ask questions.

We all prefer to answer questions to help potential snake owners.

There is one thing you may not be prepared fr though:

They are VERY addictive, it always starts with one.

Likewise, as lee2308 says, where about are you? we have members on here spread all over the place, someone will more than likely be able to recommend a breeder or decent rep shop fairly close.

hiya, i got my first corn over three years ago i now have four!! they are lovely to handle and really good feeders i have had no probs with mine, my biggest who is nearly 4years old is 5ft 6, i only paid 40 quid for him and forty for my snowy, but i think it depends also on the colour and obviously size, i think it is better to get from a baby as u can see how they grow and get used to handling, my other half wont go near my big one but is fine with babies, finds them less daunting lol i think they are lovely snakes to have because of their nature

OOOPPSSS!!!!

Sorry everyone, completely forgot to tell you where I am! I live just south of Leicester, and my other half lives in Nottingham, so anywhere in between there we can get to pretty easily!

Thanks for the help so far, I definately want a baby one, I held a 3ft one the other day, and that was a little bit daunting!

I think I like the colours of the Amelanistic corn the best (althought I did see a purple and yellow king snake that I thought was really girly, but I've been told no Kings!)

Hi and welcome,

I got myself a corn a few days a go, great pet!

first snake aswell, doesnt mind being handled what so ever really docile and tame.

As for prices, im gonna have to say the same as one of the other posts it really does depend on the morph!
Mine was marked up as a common, but its either a Miami or a Hypo (think there both a morph of common) and she was 40 quid.

The black i was interested in was 60 quid and the snow was 45 i think he had a couple of amel's that were 40 aswell not to sure

But welcome to the forum, great community here and great helpful people.

Regards,
Blake

A lot of snakes are hatching/due to hatch in the next few weeks as well, so you may find prices of some could be cheaper as well.

Hiya and welcome.
Good luck finding the right snake.
Just ensure you get one you are really happy with. It will be part of your life for a long time.
I've been looking for a stripe or a while. Seen a few, but not one I'm totally happy with yet, so I'll just keep looking.
