without going thro all the old posts to see....can anyone give a few tips on how to keep the cooler end of a viv cool when the weather is hot outside....ambient temp is ok..hot side is ok...but cooler end of viv temp went up quite a bit with hot weather
that is what i am a bit worried about aswell, but off the top of my head, you could create a moist hide and put it in the cool end so you snake can get wet if it wants to cool down a bit
can ya not just run a fan to cool the entire end of faun, noticed this in use in rep store?
love my animals more than i like people. the gang 1 ridgeback 2 kids 1 anery-lil aney 1 m, 4 ft candy cane corn.. aka kellogg.. 1 carolina corn-claret/carrot Newest additon.. f whiteout corn-pastel?? 1african house snake - Bob
possibly, but keep an eye on the temps for the first few hours to make sure that a) the cool end doesnt go too cool and b) the warm end doesnt get too cool
Occasional periods of temps in the 90's probably won't hurt your snakes, but if it stays 90+ for days on end that wouldn't be good. Make sure to give your snakes some damp hides to get into. Fans make you cooler because they take moist air away from the skin allowing your sweat to evaporate more rapidly. Although the temperature of the room will not change, the temperature of your skin does as it loses heat energy to the water which is swept away. Snakes do not sweat so do not have this luxury. The moist hide is the best way to keep him cool.
Yeah, a moist hide can cool them well but it can also cause skin problems if they stay in there for too long. A piece of marble/slate or even a kitchen tile in the cool end provides a nice cool surface for an overheated snake to lay on.
